SmartStill. Pot Still Spirit Maker.

It is illegal to manufacture spirits in the UK without a distiller's licence which is required under the provisions of section 12 of the Alcoholic Liquor Duties Act 1979 and this includes manufacture for "own/domestic use".
Public Notice 39 - "Spirits production in the UK" dated July 2006 provides further information about HM Revenue and Custonm's requirements.

This is a clever little machine that simply plugs into the mains and will easily and cheaply produce distilled water, essential oils and, where legal, up to 60% abv alcohol. It is a very compact unit weighing a total of 3.8kg.

For water distillation simply follow the instructions included. use a sachet of charcoal included.

Foe Essential Oil Extraction: The vast majority of true essential oils are produced by distillation. There are different processes used, however. In all of them water is heated to produce steam, which carries the most volatile chemical of the aromatic material with it. The heat from the steam causes globules of oil in the plant to burst and then the oil evaporates. The essential oil vapour and the steam then pass out of the top of the still into a cooled pipe where the vapours are condensed back into liquids. At this point, the essential oil seperates from the water and floats to the top. To use this unit for purpose we suggest you put the plant material into the steel chamber with the water (about 3 litres) and replace the lid. After about 1 hour the distillate with start to drip through into the PET container, how much you collect will be down to the amount of product you have put in and the strength you are looking for.

For Alcohol Distillation:
Please note that in certain countries alcohol distillation is illegal and you need a licence.
Only use Still Spirits Turbo Triple Distilled Yeast as the yeast and nutrient mix and Still Spirits Turbo Clear (as finings). No other turbos should be used in this still. The wash (this is the cleared fermented sugar and water) should be placed in the stainless steel chamber up to the 4 litre mark. The lid should be replaced and the unit switched on. It will take approx 1 hour to heat up before any alcohol will start to drip into the PET container. Allow the unit to run for a further hour and by this time (at the end of the second hour) 800ml of liquid is collected. This liquid will be around 60% ABV. This liquid should then be diluted to 1.2 litre to produce an end product which is 40% ABV spirit.
Still Spirit flavouring can then be added to give the required product. See flavourings for types available. The spirit can also be further diluted to produce liqueurs with again added flavourings. If you wish to experiment further after the initial 800ml has been collected then carry on using the machine however the liquid produced after the initial 800ml will be of lesser strength and not as clean and pure.

Please check out the large range of quality flavourings which are available for this product.
